PRIME's Mission

PRIME is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization established by Palestinian and Israeli researchers in 1998 with the help of the Peace Research Institute in Frankfurt, Germany. PRIME's purpose is to pursue mutual coexistence and peace-building through joint research and outreach activities.

Committed to

Reducing existing asymmetries and inequalities between Israelis and Palestinians.

Complete parity, symmetry and equality between the two sides within the Institute.

Promoting human rights and full academic freedom.

Independence from political interests of either side.

Demonstrating practical solidarity when its principles are threatened or violated.

Striving for scholarly excellence.

Objectives

To build an intellectual infrastructure of peace.

To influence the public agenda in Israel and Palestine.

To offer ideas and proposals to overcome obstacles in peace-building.

To develop concepts as to how long-term regional issues are to be addressed.

To train an new generation of leaders, committed to peaceful coexistence and cooperation.

To contribute to the strengthening of civil society.

To serve as a reference center for cooperative activities.

To encourage joint academic activities among PRIME's members.

Structure

PRIME has a general assembly that meets once a year, an executive committee of ten members (five of each side) that meets four times a year, two elected co-presidents, two co-directors, and a paid office manager and grant writer. It is located near Beit Jala, at the Talitha Kumi school.
