The Collected Sayings of Time

Chronos cleared his throat
and the old bugger began
his long promised disquisition
upon the meaning of Time.
At that moment, throughout
the dreary corridors of eternity,
the echoes of his voice sounded seen
by the assembled and we began
to shift uncomfortably in our chairs wondering
how long this might take
and whether it would be worth
the wait.
