Hi Hopper-ex-experts,

I have a small project that I would like to outsource :)

This is for an application to help people who have suffered a stroke to learn which muscles to use in order to speak again.

In a Director projector, I record sound using the end-user's microphone, and save the recording to the hard disk. The recordings are very short, usually 2 - 5 seconds each, but there will be many of them. Each recording is of the stroke patient saying one word.

I'm currently using Tabuleiro's AudioXtra for this, but Mauricio no longer supports it and I am receiving occasional reports of problems on Windows 7 and 8. AudioXtra saves the files in WAV format.

Mauricio has suggested that I use Flash's built-in audio recording system. I have found some source code written by Thibault Imbert <http://www.bytearray.org/?p=1858> which does what I want, but:

* I'm not comfortable working in ActionScript
* I'm wondering if it would be possible to save the recording in a compressed format, to save space on the hard disk.

Is this something that one of you would like to help me with?

Please contact me either off-list or on-list, depending on whether you want to share your reply with everyone else :)

Thanks in advance!

James
