Fwiw... You're basically right - web (especially artful web) has taken a step back and everything looks similar nowadays (often - not always ��)

Unity is great, but  for me it's mostly overkill...
But there are some nice tools for the web too:

- Tumult's Hype 3 is  a nice one  http://tumult.com/hype/ <http://tumult.com/hype/>

- the Greensock framework  https://greensock.com <https://greensock.com/>

or if you're more into SVG there's the awesome fabricjs - http://fabricjs.com <http://fabricjs.com/>

and last year I did loads of stuff using Framer  https://framer.com <https://framer.com/>

So - not all is lost... 

And the nice thing about most of the current stuff is, you don't have to take care about if a plugin is installed, or if it plays on mobile devices -> everything we got major headaches when I came to deploy Shockwave creations.  I have nothing to share (yet) because of tons of NDA restrictions, but will definitely show some prototypes later this year... 

The ones you showed are cool... I especially love the color-animation in Aleph Null!
