[Hopperxx] MX 2004 installation problem

I am apparently in a quandry. Can anyone help please? Embarrassing.

I'm going to see if I can build some of my old Director work, starting 
with Nio ( http://vispo.com/nio ) in HTML5.

I tried installing my old copy of Director MX 2004. I have the serial 
number. But it asked for the serial number of the software I was 
upgrading. I had a Director 8 or 8.5 serial number. I did buy either 8 
or 8.5 (8.5 I think) but I think I lost the serial number. I got rid of 
my old manuals for 8 or 8.5, and I think the serial number was in those 
manuals. I must have forgotten I needed that serial number to install 
Director MX 2004.

I contacted Adobe, but they don't have the serial numbers for those old 
Macromedia purchases, or if they do, they're not giving them out. 
Probably they just don't have them.

What I want installed, finally, is Director MX 2004. I haven't had 
Director installed for several years.
